Respecting Indigenous Culture, Land and Rights

I am not indigenous. My ancestors were from Ireland, Scotland and France, but I am drawn to many of the spiritual beliefs, stories, and customs of indigenous cultures. I will, in a most respectful way, refer to indigenous peoples, cultures and ideas in this blog to promote them in the hope of advancing reconciliation, and of course to give credit for the many teachings that I have found so personally valuable.

My adventures will take place primarily on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation whose presence reaches back to time immemorial. I must also acknowledge that all of this land we call Canada was first inhabited by vibrant, strong indigenous cultures, and that I may venture into the traditional, unceded, unsurrendered lands of other Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. I offer my sincerest gratitude and deepest respects to them.
