outpost: Loonhaunt Lake
Family-run outpost cabin operator (Hal and Tammy Woolsey) based out of Mine Centre, Ontario, with a fly-in outpost on Tompkins Island in Loonhaunt Lake reached by Hal's floatplane and a boat-to outpost on Esox Lake five minutes from the Cedar Narrows Road landing. The self-sufficient housekeeping cabins come stocked with linens and basics, and the Pipestone chain is reachable with one portage. Fishing covers muskie, lake trout, smallmouth bass and northern pike.
