Lake Superior (lac Supérieur) is the largest of 4,241 named lakes in Superior Country, with 3,147 miles of charted shoreline and 2,014 islands. Marathon sits right on its shore. Its 1332 ft maximum depth is greater than 100% of depth-surveyed lakes in the region.
