Blue Heron Resort is a drive-in housekeeping-cottage resort on the lower Spanish River near Walford, Ontario, north of Manitoulin Island, with ten cottages plus seven water-view RV/tent sites. Anglers fish the Spanish River and the North Channel of Lake Huron about ten minutes away by boat, mainly for walleye, smallmouth bass and northern pike, with perch, crappie, panfish, muskie and sturgeon also present and lake trout and salmon reachable by trolling deeper water. Cottages are fully equipped with kitchens, linens, WiFi and BBQs; bait, gas, ice, fish freezing, boat and pontoon rentals, guides and a boat launch are available on site, and docking costs CAD $150 per week or $30 per day.
