Border Country Outfitters, family-run since 1999 out of Emo in Ontario's Rainy River District, guides whitetail deer, black bear and upland bird hunts and outfits fishing trips. Deer hunts run on roughly 20,000 acres of private land with about 80 stand and blind sites; bear hunts cover four bear management areas totalling about 1,000 square miles, with spring hunts semi-guided from remote outposts and fall hunts fully guided from the main lodge. Fishing is on Rainy Lake from a boat-in outpost cabin on Rebecca Island and on the Pipestone Lake chain of 11 lakes for walleye, pike, muskie, lake trout and smallmouth bass; the main lodge serves all meals family style while outpost cabins are self-catered.
