The only outfitter on Island Lake (also called Thistle Lake) in the Temagami waterway system, reached by 3.5 miles of road off Highway 64 near Field, Ontario. Housekeeping cottages include kitchen, three-piece bathroom, linens, woodstove with wood, screened porch and BBQ, and rates bundle a 16 or 18 ft boat with a four-stroke electric-start Mercury, fish finder, fuel, minnows, nightcrawlers and ice. Fishing is for walleye, pike and bass under a catch-and-release policy on larger fish that the camp says has run more than 25 years; bear, moose and small-game hunts and winter ice-cabin packages are also offered.
