On Kearns Lake · On Kearns Lake
Fly-in outpost operation run by Dwayne and Terry from a base near Thunder Bay, with flights from Wabagimi Air near Armstrong (about a two-and-a-half-hour paved drive north of Thunder Bay) and roughly a 30-minute float-plane hop to camp. Two housekeeping cabins are offered: Kearns Lake (also called Jay Vee), which sleeps 16, and Stonehouse, a cedar log cabin on a smaller sheltered lake about a 10-minute walk from Kearns, suited to parties of six or fewer. Fishing is for walleye and northern pike, with walleye over 25 inches and pike over 30 inches to be released; cabins have solar power with generator backup, propane appliances, indoor plumbing, Starlink wifi, boats with 15 hp four-stroke motors and a fish-cleaning house. The operator also sells fall moose hunts at drive-in and fly-in tent camps and semi-guided or do-it-yourself bear hunts, with guides available at extra cost rather than included.
